The Miracles Don’t Stop: A Life of Service Beyond the Mission

The mission field is often called the “front seat of miracles,” but I’ve come to realize that the miracles don’t stop when the mission ends. Even without a name tag, I am still called to serve. I continue to live missionary principles, support the youth, teach seminary, and work alongside the missionaries in my home branch. No matter our circumstances, if we have the desire to serve, the Lord will always qualify us. Life after the mission can be just as miraculous—if we continue to give our hearts to Him.

Before serving a mission, I was focused on my personal growth and achievements. But my mission completely transformed my perspective. I learned that true fulfillment doesn’t come from personal success—it comes from serving God and His children. Through challenges, I saw the Lord’s hand sustaining me, strengthening my faith that He is always in control. Most importantly, I came to understand my divine identity and that true happiness comes through selfless service.

One of the most powerful experiences that shaped my faith occurred when I lost five loved ones in a tragic accident during my mission. The grief was overwhelming, and the thought of never seeing them again in this life was heartbreaking. My mission leaders encouraged me to take time to rest, but instead, I felt prompted by the Spirit to find healing through service.

Rather than staying home to mourn, I went out and taught. As I shared the Plan of Salvation with others who were also grieving, I felt an indescribable peace. Listening to their burdens and hearing their testimonies of Christ’s hope became my own source of comfort.

In losing myself in the service of others, I found healing and strength.

This experience reminded me of Jesus Christ—when He mourned the loss of John the Baptist, He still chose to serve, feed, and heal the 5,000. His example became more real to me, and I gained a stronger testimony that true rest and healing come through serving others, even in our own pain.

If you’re thinking about serving a mission, take that leap of faith. You don’t have to be perfect or know everything—just be willing, and the Lord will qualify you. A mission will shape your testimony, deepen your relationship with Jesus Christ, and help you understand your divine purpose. And even after the mission, the call to serve never ends. True joy comes from losing yourself in the work of the Lord. Trust in Him, and move forward with faith!
