From Desire to Action: My Path to Serving a Mission

Preparing for my mission wasn’t easy, but it was worth every step of the journey. The idea of serving a mission started in 2021 after attending FSY (For the Strength of Youth Conference). But it wasn’t until 2024, after completing my college education, that I finally submitted my papers. That same year, I received my call.

During the time in between, I was determined to keep my desire to serve strong while finishing school. So, I attended missionary prep classes at the institute and took additional courses to deepen my gospel knowledge and strengthen my connection with the Savior.

Along the way, I received my endowment, made worshiping the Lord a priority by visiting the temple monthly, and eventually became a weekly temple worker. I served in my church callings, worked closely with missionaries, and most importantly, I focused on reading the Book of Mormon with the intent to learn.

All these experiences didn’t just help me keep my desire to serve—they grew it. They also taught me valuable life skills like time management, budgeting, and handling stress. Through it all, I’ve learned to rely on the Lord, and I’ve found strength in priesthood blessings during times of challenge and uncertainty.

As I prepare for the mission field, I know that these lessons will continue to guide me. When life feels overwhelming, I can remember that I am a child of God. I am always improving, and He only wants me to do my best. And so, I will give Him my best.
