My conversion to the gospel began in a time of deep struggle. After battling alcoholism, smoking, and addiction, I left Mindanao for Cebu, hoping to escape my past and return to school. However, I soon fell back into old habits, despite seeking solace in different religious groups. It wasn’t until I faced being kicked out of my aunt’s house that I turned to God in prayer, asking for guidance.
Almost immediately, I found shelter with a friend, and it was during this time that I discovered a pamphlet on the Restoration of the Gospel of Jesus Christ. This led me to meet the missionaries, who patiently answered my questions, despite my doubts.
The turning point came when I attended a youth temple trip, where I felt an overwhelming peace. I realized that I wanted to enter the temple one day, and as I continued my journey, I felt increasingly drawn to the teachings of the missionaries. I struggled with giving up smoking and drinking, but with their support, I began to change my habits and circle of friends.
On December 14, 2019, I was baptized and in less than two years, I received my mission call to serve in the Philippines Cagayan de Oro Mission.
My full-time mission deeply shaped me as a faithful disciple of Jesus Christ. I learned that the Atonement isn’t just for overcoming sin but also for healing, strengthening, and enabling us to serve with love. I also gained a stronger witness of God's love and plan, realizing that true happiness comes from following the Savior and helping others do the same.
Since returning from my mission, I’ve continued to live by missionary principles, I continue to follow Jesus Christ by prioritizing scripture study, prayer, and seeking personal revelation. I actively serve through ministering, church callings, and supporting full-time missionaries. Regular temple attendance helps me stay spiritually focused, and I strive to maintain Christ-like habits, relying on the Atonement for strength.
While my full-time mission is over, my commitment to serving the Lord remains strong, knowing missionary work is a lifelong effort. I testify that the Book of Mormon is true, that Joseph Smith is a prophet, and that through the Atonement of Jesus Christ, I have experienced a true conversion.
