(Michael, 28 years old, is a deaf-mute convert of the Church. Despite opposition from his family, he joined the Church because of his strong testimony of the Gospel. These are excerpts from his testimonies shared during fast and testimony meetings in his branch. He keeps a journal where he writes his testimonies to be read aloud by the full time missionaries on the pulpit during sacrament meetings.)

I know that the Church is true. I am so thankful to be a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. I know that President Thomas S. Monson is a true prophet of God.
Like Ludwig Van Beethoven who composed some of the greatest songs even though he was deaf, I am grateful to be able to practice and share my talent in dancing (during the Jubilee celebration). The Lord is pleased when we use our talent wisely.
I know that the Book of Mormon is true. I know that as we read, ponder, and pray about the scriptures daily and ask God for understanding, the Holy Ghost will bear witness to us of the truth of these things.
I know with a surety that Jesus Christ is the son of God; that He lives and He knows and loves every one of us.
In the name of Jesus Christ, amen.
