Growing up, I never imagined how deeply the gospel of Jesus Christ would transform my life and my family. I grew up in a broken home with an absent father. Through the gospel, our family was healed. Today, I am the son of a loving bishop and part of a family that is sealed and bound together in love. The gospel has changed me in ways words cannot fully express. The joy that now fills my heart is something I want everyone to experience, and I am grateful to serve as a missionary and help others come unto Christ and feel that same joy.
One of my most meaningful experiences so far has been serving as a district leader at the Missionary Training Center (MTC). At first, I felt unprepared and overwhelmed. But Heavenly Father quietly helped me realize that I was capable—I simply needed confidence. Line upon line, He strengthened me. That experience taught me how to love others more deeply and reminded me that the Lord qualifies those He calls. In a short time at the MTC, my testimony and personal conversion have grown tremendously. Before, I liked being in the Church. Now, I truly love being in the Church.
During a moment of doubt, I wondered if I had made the right decision to serve. Through a simple, Spirit-led experience with the Book of Mormon, I received a clear answer. I felt the Lord tell me that having His word is enough. That moment strengthened my faith and reminded me that answers can come in quiet and personal ways.
I stay motivated by immersing myself in my missionary purpose and finding joy in the Lord’s work. When I serve with my whole heart, fear, homesickness, and doubt fade away. Joy comes when I focus on helping others rather than on myself.
To those preparing to serve, do not take your preparation lightly. Use this time to grow spiritually, feast upon the words of Christ, and study Preach My Gospel. Be humble, be joyful, and trust in the Lord. I promise that as you do, He will bless you with the strength, knowledge, and conversion you need to become an effective instrument in His hands.
I testify that Jesus Christ lives, that He loves us, and that His gospel has the power to change hearts, families, and lives, including yours.
